What goes into bringing Broadway touring shows to Popejoy?

Those great Broadway touring shows (like The Lion KingThe Book of Mormon, and others) we get at Popejoy don’t just happen! So …. how do they come to us?

Tom Tkach, Director of Popejoy Hall, will give us an insider’s look at what it takes to run a major important theatrical venue like Popejoy Hall. We’ll learn about the business of show business—the booking process, fund-raising, dealing with Broadway producers, and all the steps necessary to bring the Broadway touring shows to Albuquerque.

Tom grew up outside of Manhattan, has a Master of Arts in Arts Management from City University, London, and has worked in arts management in New Jersey. During his more than 15 years at Popejoy Hall, the number of annual subscribers has increased tenfold and the Broadway touring shows are very popular. Tom is the only Tony™ voter in New Mexico.
