TLC & ATG members and Opera Southwest Guild members are treated to a special presentation about the Aida set design by Emmy-winner Dahl Delu, who has designed sets, costumes, and lighting for more than 50 years. He has worked for major repertory companies, opera companies (including the Metropolitan Opera), and musical theatres, as well as designing sets and lights on and off Broadway. He has earned two Emmys while working on more than 50 prime time TV series, including Cheers and Prince of Bel-Air.
We are lucky to have him here in Albuquerque, and he will do a special presentation for us, showing his concept for the set of Aida.
Following this venture into the creative side, Tony Zancanella, the Executive Director for Opera Southwest, fills us in on the important business side of opera. We will learn what it takes to manage the business of a regional opera company in the 21st century.
